Research

In addition to sleep studies, the Sleep Disorders Center of Alabama is well known for its work in sleep medicine research. The Center has conducted over 35 clinical research trials in an effort to expand treatment options for sleep-related

disorders like insomnia and narcolepsy.

Over the past 10 years, the Sleep Disorders Center of Alabama has participated in over 25 multi-center clinical trials. The Sleep Disorders Center of Alabama is one of several sleep centers in the United States and, in some instances, other countries that test drugs for safety and usefulness in treating sleep disorders.

Very often the drugs that are being tested are investigational (which means that the only way to try these drugs is to participate in a research study called a clinical trial). The.

The Sleep Disorders Center of Alabama has participated in clinical trials of drugs to treat several sleep disorders such as Insomnia, Narcolepsy, Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Shift Work Sleep Disorder.

Over the years, we have seen several important drugs for treating sleep disorders receive FDA approval and become available for doctors to prescribe for their patients.
